proxy and accelerator as separates processes

Hi list

Does anyone has tried to run two squid separated processes ?

- One configured as proxy-caching machine only
  in a distinct hierarchy say /usr/local/squid-proxy

- The second configured as accelerator only
  in another hierarchy say /usr/local/squiq-accel

Should performance be better ?
The RAM size and disk space is
not a problem for the moment.
