The answer is, you can't.

What is the cannonical URL for the root directory when logged in as user
foo? (a)

What is the cannonical URL for the default directory when logged in as user
foo? (b)

This is a non-trivial problem for backwards-compatibility reasons. I suppose
we could send a redirect after doing a pwd, giving:

(a) = redirect to ftp://user:password@host:port/path/to/default/dir
