squid 1.1b12 returns blank page on DNS failure

        I dunno if I missed something recently, but when I send
squid a URL which fails in DNS, it returns nothing. Example:

(ed) staff1:~$ telnet proxy 3128
Trying 206.127.2.20...
Connected to proxy.texas.net.
Escape character is '^]'.
GET http://www.jukebox.com/ HTTP/1.0

Connection closed by foreign host.
(ed) staff1:~$

        logs/access.log shows:

847319786.756 12675 206.127.0.38 ERR_DNS_FAIL/400 0 GET http://www.jukebox.com/ - NONE/-

        logs/cache.log shows:

96/11/06 16:36:26| ERR_DNS_FAIL: http://www.jukebox.com/

        Is there a configuration I missed or something?

        squid 1.1b12, solaris 2.5.1
