Squid1.1.3 - cache.log

When I do a kill -USR1 or USR2 its seems to rotate my log file ok but then
my cache.log grows out of control. Any ideas as to why this is happening and
how to resolve.

-rw-r--r-- 1 root www 3300146 Feb 5 10:32 cache.log ----> this in just 4
minutes.
