proxy_auth problem

Hi,

I am trying to setup a local squid proxy which will accept requests from
users supplying a valid username/password.

I have an apache style password file, and have added a line:
proxy_auth /users2/eltonm/squid/etc/passwd

However, when trying to start the cache I get:
97/02/11 11:59:59| parseConfigFile: line 956 unrecognized: 'proxy_auth
/users2/eltonm/squid/etc/passwd'

This is probably an obvious question, but what am I doing wrong? Did I
need to compile the proxy with some extra flags? I am running this on an
HP9000 running HP-UX 9.04
