ftp connection timed out condition : cached ?

   I looked in the archive first but I couldn't find
 anything about this problem so :

 I am using squid 1.1.5 on DUX4.0

 When an ftp URL results in an error "Connection timed out" it seems
 as if the squid caches this error condition i.e. subsequent
 reloads in Netscape return the ""Connection timed out" error
>immediately< without waiting for the actual timeout
 (that is retrying the ftp).

 Any clues ?
