As you can see, squid took ~3 mins to read ~900k metadata into memory.
During squid reading metadata into memory, I didn't notice any slowness.
It ever took much more than this (2-3 hrs) if the cache was not cleanly
shutdown.

My system is
Squid 1.1.10
PPro 200
16 GB swap
256 MB Ram
Linux 2.0.29
