I chose this and tried, but another problem occurred (although this
problem is of the web server, not of squid):

> http://..../xlab/ -> http://www.xlab.my.site/xlab/
> http://..../ylab/ -> http://www.ylab.my.site/ylab/

To access user directories at xlab, URL is like

  http://www.squid.my.site/xlab/~user/

and the redirector rewrites it into

  http://www.xlab.my.site/xlab/~user/

My web server (Apache 1.2.5) treats ~user as a user directory only
if it appears directly after the web server name in the URL, i.e.,
http://www.xlab.my.site/~user/. So I must seek another solution.

Anyway, thanks a lot, and I appreciate any further suggestion!
