Connection Lifetime Expired

I just got a couple of these complaints this week from users:

"When waiting for replies from SLOW web sites I get the following error
 message:
 The following error was encountered:
     Connection Lifetime Expired
 Squid has terminated the request because it has exceeded the maximum
 connection lifetime. Is there a way to interact with slow web sites?"

What's the best way to proceed here?
