squid-1.2.x dies on linux

I tried to use squid-1.2.beta12 - beta14 on two different Linux-boxes.
On both each of the squids above died while serving the first
HTTP-Request:

1998/02/10 21:40:32| commCallCloseHandlers: FD 13
1998/02/10 21:40:32| commCallCloseHandlers: ch->handler=0x8068cf0
1998/02/10 21:40:32| cbdataValid: 0x81ba818
1998/02/10 21:40:32| cbdataUnlock: 0x81ba818
FATAL: Received Segment Violation...dying.

I can't find any other posting concerning this problem, so is there
anyone else out there who's the same problem ?

Bye the way, squid 1.1.20 runs without any errors and I've not seen
any sig11 problems on my Linux-boxes so far.
