Squid crashing on memory limit exceeded.

Thanks to all who replied - I understand now why its going wrong!

However, it lease to another question. I've set cache_effective_user
(or whatever) to "nobody" - can I assume its safe to run squid with
uid/gid as root ? (I start it as a local daemon - so its difficult to
use the csh limit command without using a wrapper of some sort).
