Squid behind firewall & parenting

Hi all,

I was reading through the FAQ about setting up squid behind a firewall, and
how it is not possible to use parent caches (like my ISP).
Is there any workaround to enable my cache to talk to the parent cache, or
is it not possible without sitting the cache outside the firewall.

How have people gotten around this ?
