DNS server problem

I have installed squid-2.1.PATCH2 on slackware 2.0.36,
after starting squid it gives:
...
1999/02/17 16:07:22| Ready to serve requests.
1999/02/17 16:07:26| 65536 Entries read so far.
1999/02/17 16:07:26| WARNING: All dnsserver processes are busy.
1999/02/17 16:07:26| WARNING: 5 pending requests queued
1999/02/17 16:07:26| Consider increasing the number of dnsserver processes
in your config file.
...

and later it starts one more squid process, and that keeps on until
no web traffic!
I also observed that web traffic becomes too slow on the net.
I configured to use 10 DNS server process in config file, but no success.
Previously I had used squid-2.1.PRE1 with 5 DNS server process without
any such problem.
Anything I missed?
