I used to run a cache for 20 users on a Sparc1+ / 24M / 500M cache disk.
It was also using an external redirector shell script for "bad urls"..

Was running around load avg of 0.40, or less..

I moved it to the sparc from a 486-33/8M/200M cache, when the badwords
list got too big, and response times started to really suffer from the
lack of RAM in the 486.

Oh yeah, that was on a 10M LAN, slowed things up somewhat, but bandwidth
thru was about 500k/s, (500k to the client, 500k coming into the proxy)..
