Nope. The Book of HTTP (bless it's protocol, and manifold methods)
explicitly states that you must write through IF you are dealing with
methods other than GET or HEAD [13:11] - which is a specific case of the
last paragraph of 13:10. So that's explicit and says nothing more.
[5:1:1] says "All other methods are OPTIONAL" (their emphasis), and that
we should return 501 for any unimplemented method. It's quite explicit.

I'm mostly a casual skimmer as well. I've printed it out and am taking
it more seriously now.

prophets of IETF) that "It is inappropriate to use Internet-Drafts as
reference material or to cite them other than as "work in progress"." ;)
