Still problems with filedescriptors

Hi!

Dancer provided me with a working copy of the -ac patches, thanks.
Now I can raise the max filedescriptors beyond 1024. But:

proxy1:~/squid-2.2.STABLE2/src # ulimit -n
2048

checking Default FD_SETSIZE value... 1024
checking Maximum number of filedescriptors we can open... 2048
checking Default UDP send buffer size... 65535
checking Default UDP receive buffer size... 65535
checking Default TCP send buffer size... 65535
checking Default TCP receive buffer size... 65535
checking if sys_errlist is already defined... (cached) yes
checking for libresolv _dns_ttl_ hack... no

So far so good.

But cachemgr.cgi shows:
File descriptor usage for squid:
Maximum number of file descriptors: 1024
Largest file desc currently in use: 336
Number of file desc currently in use: 309
        Files queued for open: 0
Available number of file descriptors: 715
Reserved number of file descriptors: 100
        Store Disk files open: 10

Well, that's now in the off peak hours. Yesterday evening, every of our 4
proxies had > 900 file desc in use, and more than 200 disc files open, by
the way.
So, the additional filedescriptors don't seem to get trough to the running
copy of squid....
