Re: Going direct if parent proxy is down

My setup is that squid will only send requests to parent proxies and in
case those parent proxies are not available it should go direct. In earlier
versions of squid (2.1.x) this could not be achived with non-icp parents.
Can this be done with 2.2.x having non ICP parents.?

Thanks,

Irfan Akber

Hello,

Perhaps you shoud try round-robin on both parents. As far as I know, when
squid detected one or more of your parent proxy was down, it will
automatically going direct.

If you are using squid 2.2 Stable3 or Stable4 this can be done only with
"prefer_direct on" option.

I guess you should upgrade to 2.2 STABLE4. I had upgraded our 3 proxy
machine with the new version of squid today and it seems running well on
all machines.
