Zero Sized Reply

I've upgraded our server to RedHat 6.0 which comes with squid version 2.2
STABLE1.

The squid works fine but it fails to connect to some sites example hotmail
or other non CGI sites and it gives the following error.

While trying to retrieve the URL: <[no URL]>
The following error was encountered:
Zero Sized Reply
Squid did not receive any data for this request.

Our ISP does not allow us to access the Internet directly so I had to add

cache_peer proxy3.dragon.net.au parent 8080 3130

and replace

hierarchy_stoplist cgi-bin ? with hierarchy_stoplist to allow cgi queries to
go through the ISP proxy.

any ideas how to solve this problem.
