Hi folks,

I'm a newbie with Squid and have a question, which I have not found in the
FAQ and also not in the searchable archive, but nevertheless my apologies if
this question was asked before.

I have a Squid 1.1.20 running on a dual CPU Solaris 2.6 server, which has a
child Squid 2.0 Patch2 possibly also on Solaris, but may also be on Linux.
the child was updated only a few days ago, and since there a problem came
upwhich shows itself in the following way in the parents log:

1999/08/13 02:30:07| 65536 lines written so far.
1999/08/13 02:30:07| Finished. Wrote 67318 lines.
1999/08/13 02:30:07| Took 3 seconds (22439.3 lines/sec).
FATAL: Failed to fork() for ftpget.
Squid Cache (Version 1.1.20): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: user 10573 sys 18934
Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 970127

After a restart of the parents squid all runs well for two days or so. Does
anybody know this problem and how to solve it ?

Another question is, when I want to update the parent to Squid 2.2 stable4,
what should I do with the ftpget of squids 1.1.20 conf File. I think I would
migrate the conf file from 1.1.20 to 2.2, but I have read that in squid 2.x
ftpget no longer exists. What should I do with the statement in the conf
file, can I simply delete it, and ftp still is full functional ?

Thanks in advance, G.Bitzer
