Transparent Squid in RedHat 6.0

Hi,

   I want to make Squid transparent in RedHat 6.0. I looked at FAQ sections
17.2 and 17.7. Here are some of my concerns:

1. Did anyone try to do this in RedHat 6? Any problem?
2. In terms of functionality, are there any difference between the method
described in 17.2 and 17.7?
3. The author of 17.2 disclaims that it can't do FTP or gopher. Is that also
true for 17.7? If it is true, is there a way to make FTP and gopher working?
4. Does the relevant FAQ apply to both Squid 1.x and Squid 2.x?
