RE: proxy not responding

The squid.pid file is created and 'top' shows that squid is running.
'squid.out' shows that squid successfully started. I changed squid back to
the default ports. When I try and telnet to the proxy I get

Could not open connection on port 3128 : Connection failed

any ideas?

Hi,
Its shows that squid is not at all running. So
first try to run squid. check whether squid.pid is
created. If it is created then you will surely contact
your local HTTP server.

The problem may be you have not created log files. you
have to run squid -z first to create
log files and give appropriate permission for the
squid log file directory.

If your squid is running then it will surely generate
error pages for you if it cannot able to contact your
HTTP server.
