I have been testing using squid authentication (with MySQL and a PERL
script as the authenticator) to put a time limit on web access by
library patrons here. This is a very small installation in many
respects and I'm still testing; we will only have about 20 machines
with the time limits when I'm all set up. I'm checking every 4
minutes. If there is a problem with a short authentication_ttl it has
nothing to do with squid. Any performance changes have been
undetectable. I am testing this with Version 2.2 STABLE1. (Yes, I
really need to update my Squid).
