dns_children error with 2.3 stable 2

I just upgraded from 2.2 stable 4 to 2.3 stable 2 and get an error on
(solaris 2.7) boot/squid-startup:

2000/03/08 12:40:40| parseConfigFile: line 569 unrecognized: 'dns_children 15'

and there appears to be no dns helper processes started up. this was
fine at 2.2-s4. did this functionality change from 2.2 to 2.3? I
didn't see any mention of it in ChangeLog... at least not specificly.

ChangeLog: under Changes to Squid-2.3.DEVEL2 notes I found

        - Added internal DNS queries; Most installations can run
          without the external dnsserver processes.

does this mean that dns_children directive is no longer needed nor
supported? If so it should be yanked from the squid.config file.

btw: minor rant - to those that might be listening, changing the
text/documentation wording in the squid.config file between dot
releases drives me up a tree. When I try and do a diff between the
default config files to see what changed and it spews out 10 printed
pages! most of which was mods to the british-based original author's
"whilst"s were changed to an american-based "while"s, spurious "u"s
cut out, etc. _whilst_ the real configuration changes go
unnoticed/unchanged (like dns_children?) amongst the clutter. just my
$0.03 (inflation you know).
