Have you really done this? (configure --disable-internal-dns ...; make
clean; make install)

Quick check: Is there any dnsserver processes running when you have
started Squid?

Next, verify the spelling.. maybe you have some kind of spelling error
in the requested domain name.

Works fine here in my tests..
