Yes, people have gotten LDAP working. How depends on how you store the
user information in the LDAP directory (there are at least three
different methods).

Distributed with Squid is a squid_ldap_auth module which verifies the
username by trying to bind non-anonymously to the LDAP directory. To
make it work you have to manually edit squid_ldap_auth.c to define the
correnct SEARCHBASE to where in the LDAP tree your users can be found.

Someone ought to modify the program to take the searchbase as an
argument....
