[SQU] Large file downloads stalling

Hi, I have had the following problem with squid 2.2.STABLE2 and 2.4.STABLE3.

When I try and download a very large (multi megabyte) file through squid the
download reaches a point and then stalls. It doesn't always stall at the same
location within the file and it doesn't resume where it left off the next time
I try (not that I expected it to!). I am using Netscape (various versions have
been tried) and when I go direct to the next proxy (bypassing my squid) it
always works perfectly. I get the following in tcpdump at the point where it
has stalled but before it gives up (just a small excerpt)

Also, in the squid logs the following line comes up when it gives up.

The upstream proxy (proxy.uow.edu.au) used to be running squid and is now
running another proxy version... I encountered this problem with both versions
of the uni proxy.

The link to uni is a slow (14.4 to 28.8 modem link) so I suspect it may be a
timeout but I cannot find anything in the conf file.

Any suggestions???
