[SQU] 504 code in store.log

Hi,

Every so often Squid seems to hang and if I wait long enough, I get the
following line in the store.log file:

967586417.597 RELEASE FFFFFFFF 504 -1 -1 -1
unknown -1/945
 GET http://www.anthem-inc.com/

I have gotten around this problem three different ways:
  1. Shut down and restart the Netscape browser
  2. Go to a different page and then try the problem page again (or hit
Reload a couple of times)
  3. Bypass Squid altogether by changing the browser preferences to
Direct Connection

The 504 return code is documented as a "Gateway Timeout". Is this a
Squid configuration problem or a problem with the way I have the network
set up?

Squid 2.3STABLE1
RedHat 6.1
Netscape 4.61
