Not exaclty 'coz

cache_dir ufs /w3cache/0 8500 16 256

so it is Maximum Size: 8704000 KB

Current Size: 5058874 KB

but why Current Size is larger than filesystem space which is used for
that cache???

Consider that configured cache size is almost 100% of real filesystem
size, so numbers should be almost equel.

Second, filesystem usage is 2981927 KB, while Current Size is 5058874 KB
Why there's so big difference?
It looks like squid thinks that objects are larger than they really are...
