[SQU] 'Make' symbol referencing error

On an SCO system (5.0.4), I am running 'make' on the squid 2.3.STABLE4 I got
from the principle squid site and get the following error:

store_list store.o
store_digest store.o
swap_log_op_str store_dir.o
cache_useragent_log tools.o
i386ld fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to squid
make[1]: *** [squid] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 1

I see nothing about this in the INSTALL document or the FAQ. What should I
do next?
