[SQU] Transparent Proxy works Slow

I am using transparent proxy on Solaris 8 x86. Using IP Filter.
As soon as i try accessing a site without proxy settings in the browser, its
performane goes down.
Is there anyone who could suggest any reasons and remedies for the same.
