I'm running Squid as transparent proxy for some time, but I'm experiencing some dificulties.
There is quite a big delay from the time when the request is sent, till the time when the proxy begins streaming the data to the client (sometimes 7-8 seconds). I'm measuring the CPU (PIII Xeon) usage and it's 30% in peak times... Cache server has 512MB of RAM and four 9.1GB SCSI Ultra3 Hard Disks running in RAID 0. Network load is not more than 4-5Mbit/s...
Do you have any clue where could the problem be? Or what should I change in order to test the performance?
