Not a FreeBSD user, but the process for recompiling/upgrading components
should be described in the FreeBSD documentation.. it is more or less
the same procedure for all applications in "ports".

If you cannot find the appropriate FreeBSD documentation, then you could
always compile Squid by itself as described in the Squid documentation..
the drawback from doing so is mainly that paths and such things might
differ from the "ports" build.
