I'm sure the developers will give a more concise answer, but typically, no.
Any code change to a program has the possibility to break other components.
Pre stable means pre stable.

Plus, say they fixed a bug from a previous version and that fix either
doesn't work or screwed up something else that was working...

Please comment my opinion (question) about Squid 2.4 PRE-STABLE.

I assume that Squid 2.4 PRE-STABLE has ALL of stability of Squid
2.3.STABLE4. I just unstable for additional feature.

So, it means that it is pretty save to migrate 2.3.STABLE4 to 2.4 PRE-STABLE
as long as we don't use the new features.

Am I right?
