  Your are leaving us in the dark concerning many issues;
    
    - Squid version ?
    - OS version ?
    - Is squid configured properly ?
    
 The signal 6 can happen if certain files such as log files or meta info
 (swp.state)
 from squid have become too big.

 I believe in BSD it can come from gcc bugs,disable optimization
 when compilimg squid.
