[squid-users] STALE & FRESH & OLD ???

Hy all,

I've some very basic question but I just need to know to understand
things well.
The cache objects have 3 states right ? FRESH,STALE,OLD

For FRESH i supose that the object is like the STATE says fresh and thus
do not need a refetch from originating server ?!

For OLD I supose that the object is old and need a refetch from the
server ?!

But what does STALE mean ???
