Hello there

I'm running Redhat 7.1 updated via redhat's update agent. Yes i know it's like windowsupdate; but I still new to linux and updating the different packages.

At the moment i'm running Squid 2.3.Stable4

But i have in mind installing 2.4.stable2 because i'm testing some things on my server and then implementing them on the server that I am installing, configuring and testing at the moment. The server is running squid 2.4.stable2.

The server it not my problem but the test machine is. I need to raise the file descriptors til something higher than the standard ind Redhat 7.1. I have followed the guide http://devel.squid-cache.org/hno/linux-lfd.html but still when I configure squid it tells me that I only have 256 File Descriptors. Why ? and how do I fix this problem ?

Thanks for some good information on this mailinglist
