Hello Palmer J.D.F,

   You can change the value of #define __FD_SET SIZE 1024 to 8192 in the
file /usr/include/bits/types.h .
Next you need to raise the user limit in the shell so the configure script
will see the added descriptors.
#ulimit -HSn 8192
#pwd
#/usr/local/squid-2.4STABLE1
#./configure
#make
#make install
