[squid-users] squid become slow and stop completely

I have 12.000 users ( each days but 60.000 potentials ) under one
computer , on this computer i have five squid processes running (
compiled each with 1024 filedescriptors maxi ).
When i have a big demand , i cannot access to the computer , did you
encountered this problem ? Is squid responsible ? Or another aspect of
my configuration .
My computer is running under RedHat 7.1 with Reiserfs , i have 4Go Ram
and 20 Go Disks
The squid version is 2.4.3 .
The load balancing beetwen the differents processes is assured by a
Javascript file situated on another server and the dns is also situated
on another server
Any clue is wellcome .
