The trace is everything after normal startup messages... I've heard of the
gcc bug with squid, but it would seem to me that if the problem were there,
it would also manifest itself on local requests. just a thought

 This is a long shot : in the past , gcc bugs/problems have
 been reported on FreeBSD.

 Try compiling without optimisation.
