Hendrik, thanks for your answer. You're right! The access.log and store.log
file is huge which exceeds the 2Gig file limit on hpux-10.20. Upon removing
those files, unlinkd came up successfully and squid is running fine again.

Then most likely the queries are no longer reaching Squid.
