[squid-users] proxy-authentication and persistent connections

hi,

i'm want to update from squid 2.2STABLE3 to 2.4STABLE3. but proxy-
authentication in 2.4STABLE3 doesn't work at all.

the client sends a "GET ... HTTP/1.0" with "proxy-connection: keep-alive"
squid 2.2 replies with "HTTP/1.0 407 ... proxy-connection: close"
which works fine.
squid 2.4STABLE3 replies with "HTTP/1.0 407 ... proxy-connection:
keep-alive" which the client doesn't understand (opera) or ever crash
the client (netscape 4.75)

is it true that a proxy server MUST NOT establish a persistent
connection with an HTTP/1.0 client? if so, this is a bug.

is this a known bug? ( i didn't find anything regarding this problem )

do newer squid versions also have this behavior?

maybe this is not a squid problem, but a problem with the linux
distribution ( SuSE 8.0 ) i've got the squid binaries from. Please
let me know, if so.

regards
