        Which version of Squid are you using?
        AFAIK cache_replacement_policy and memory_replacement_policy works only
with Squid >= 2.4.
        Did you compile it ?
        Did you issue
                        --enable-removal-policies=lru
        at configure time ?? (running ./configure)
