Hi All,

I have 2 squid proxy server and 1 NetCache, we bought NetCache for the purpose of filtering sites, I setup the two squid as siblings and netcache as the parent. When I measured the performance of my squid this is what I get:

# Incoming TCP-requests by status
status request % Byte % sec kB/sec
----------------------- --------- ------ -------- ------ ---- -------
HIT 444775 27.93 2579530K 15.71 1 4.62
MISS 1095792 68.81 13442M 83.84 6 1.95
ERROR 51999 3.27 75687907 0.45 5 0.27
----------------------- --------- ------ -------- ------ ---- -------
Sum 1592566 16034M 5 2.08

# Outgoing requests by status
status request % Byte % sec kB/sec
----------------------- --------- ------ -------- ------ ---- -------
DIRECT Fetch from Source 473194 41.77 6283030K 44.61 5 2.50
HIT on Sibling or Parent Cache 74729 6.60 635553K 4.51 3 3.12
FETCH from Parent Cache 585036 51.64 7164521K 50.87 8 1.60
----------------------- --------- ------ -------- ------ ---- -------
Sum 1132959 13753M 6 1.96

This is the result when I run calamaris to check my access.log.
As the table shows, my parent cache(netcache) is doing a hit rate of 51.64%, my squid is doing only 27.93%.....terrible isn't it? :-)

Doesn't squid cache the things that it FETCH from the parent?
Does squid perform well behind other commercial cache?
Do you think that I misconfigured my squid?
Can anyone tell me a good site where i can find any article that can improve my hit rate?

Thank You!

Ronald
