what I did:
I recompiled squid with --enable-auth="basic ntlm" \
--enable-basic-auth-helpers="NCSA PAM YP" \
--enable-ntlm-auth-helpers="SMB" \
also I've added the following lines to squid.conf:
auth_param ntlm program /usr/local/libexec/ntlm_auth solar/sol
auth_param ntlm children 5
auth_param ntlm max_challenge_reuses 0
auth_param ntlm max_challenge_lifetime 2 minutes
auth_param basic program /usr/local/libexec/pam_auth
auth_param basic children 5
auth_param basic realm ChelSKBSquid
auth_param basic credentialsttl 2 hours
(Domain Controller is samba-2.2.6 running on the same host as squid,
however I couldn't figure out how to provide this information to
ntlm_auth, it wanted me to specify "domain/pdc", but I've no idea
where to type IP address, 127.0.0.1 where PDC exactly is).
after such changes I got
Oct 26 13:03:26 sol /kernel: pid 61574 (squid), uid 65534: exited on
signal 6
squid didn't tell me anything. it just died.
