[squid-users] Basic Question about Squid

My Red Hat 7.2 system has just started giving me the following messages
during boot:

Bringing up interphase eth0 squid [324]: Squid Parent:child process 456
exited with status 1
Checking for new hardware squid [some #]: Squid Parent:child process #
exited with status 1

As far as I can tell my ethernet interface is working OK. However,
yesterday when I booted my system, it said it detected a new sound card (I
have done nothing with the sound card), and now I have no sound.

I am relatively new to Linux, so would appreciate some basic help with this
problem.
