[squid-users] Why is squid so fast? (https)

Hi,
I wanted to know why squid is so fast accessing aur Domino Web Server?
On pages with many icons it seems to load them 2 to 3 times faster than
going direct
without proxy.
I tried with IE6 and mozilla, same result.

The files itself it cannot cache?!
Maybe the browser is always making new connections?
