[squid-users] What is "Objects cancelled"?

Hello.

The machine I'm running Squid (v2.4S7, on a Linux box) on crashed today.
After bring it back up I examined cache.log to make sure all was well. A
fragment of the log file is shown below.

I'm a little concerned about that "2698 Objects cancelled." entry because
I don't recall having seen it before. Can someone enlighten me as to why
an object, let alone 2698 of them, would be cancelled on Squid startup?
