[squid-users] regular expression in squid.conf: grep or egrep?

Hi,
I'm running Squid Version 2.4.STABLE7. I should have looked into the
source code, but i figured i can take advantage of people on this list
by asking the question here: what kind of regular expression is used for
"acl" and "refresh-pattern" in squid.conf? I mean, is it similar to
fgrep, grep or egrep? For example, in order to match "foo.exe?a=b",
should i use expression "foo\.exe\?a=b" or "foo\.exe?a=b" ?
