Your OpenSSL md5.h file in in /usr/local/include/openssl/md5.h riht?
If so --with-openssl=/usr/local is what you want (the same prefix as
used when installing OpenSSL).
/usr/local/include/openssl/include/md5.h does not seem right by any
standard..
