[squid-users] Assertion Failed Error

Hi,

I have been running 2.4STABLE7 for almost a year now - and I have recently
had an "assertion failed" error which has caused squid to restart:

2003/03/27 10:38:20| assertion failed: comm.c:582: "fd < Squid_MaxFD"
2003/03/27 10:38:32| Starting Squid Cache version 2.4.STABLE7 for
sparc-sun-solaris2.8...
2003/03/27 10:38:32| Process ID 7936
2003/03/27 10:38:32| With 16384 file descriptors available

I have ample file descriptors available... and never is there more than
100 open at any one time. What is the possible cause of this failure?
